VA Special Home Adaptation (SHA) Grant

About This Program

The SHA grant helps veterans and service members with specific service-connected disabilities adapt their home to accommodate their disability. FY 2026 maximum is $25,350. Qualifying disabilities include loss or loss of use of both hands, certain burns, or blindness in both eyes combined with other conditions. Can be used up to 3 times with a cumulative maximum. Must not be used concurrently with SAH grant.

Cannot receive both SAH and SHA — only the one paying more. Up to 3 uses lifetime. Annual adjustment for construction costs.
