About This Program

The VA's HISA grant provides a lifetime benefit of up to $6,800 to veterans with service-connected conditions and $2,000 for non-service-connected conditions, for home improvements that are medically necessary. Eligible work is broad, bathroom modifications, roll-in showers, ramps, widened doorways, and structural alterations. A VA physician prescription documenting medical necessity is required.

Using the published $6,800 lifetime maximum for service-connected veterans.
