About This Program

The Save Our Homes amendment (SOH) caps annual increases to the assessed value of homestead properties at the lesser of 3% or the Consumer Price Index change. Over time, this can significantly reduce property taxes compared to market value assessments. SOH protections are portable — homeowners can transfer their accumulated benefit to a new Florida homestead within limits (Portability). No separate application is needed; the cap applies automatically upon homestead approval.
